Cavo Marelia – How Panadvert Named Karpathos’ New Star

In the heart of the Aegean, where the sea hugs the land and the light of Karpathos becomes an experience you live, a new hotel was born that would change hospitality on the island. The old Argo Hotel got a fresh identity, a new soul, and above all, a name to carry forever: Cavo Marelia.

Cavo Marelia

This name didn’t come by chance. It was the result of in-depth research and a creative process spanning more than ten days, a branding journey where the Panadvert team blended emotion with strategy.

Cavo Marelia

About the Hotel

A 4 star beachfront hotel on the south side of Karpathos, in the Ammoopi area, about 5-7 km from the town center and port.

  • 57 fully equipped rooms set in a garden of olive and palm trees, right by the sea.
  • Traditional Aegean architecture, recent renovations, perfectly blending nature and sea.
  • Former name: Argo Hotel.

Finding a Name with Soul

The mission was clear: As part of a full renovation and ownership change, find a name that captures the area’s nature, the simplicity of Greek light, and the quiet elegance the hotel radiates.

The Panadvert branding team started with two key elements: the sea and the olive tree , deeply Greek yet universally recognized symbols the owners wanted front and center.

That’s how “mare” (sea in Latin) joined “elia” (olive in Greek).
The result is a name that doesn’t just sound beautiful , it carries a true sense of place and soul.

A Name with International Sound Balance and Phonetic Harmony

Panadvert set strict rules. The name had to sound good, be easy for anyone worldwide to pronounce, and avoid complex diphthongs or challenging sounds that could limit it to certain markets.

At the same time, it had to be 100% unique globally so every Google (or any other) search leads only to the hotel.
This was key for the brand: a one-of-a-kind name means strong SEO, instant recognition, and big long-term marketing savings. Especially today, as SEO extends into AI and LLM systems, a unique name helps the hotel get noticed faster.
A name that works on its own, even before ads start running.

The Double-Name Philosophy

In branding, simplicity and balance matter.
Panadvert chose the double-name style used by top luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, or Hugo Boss
etc. where two words together create prestige and instant recall.

Cavo Marelia pairs the hotel’s location on a small cape (cavo) with the calm, natural harmony of the olive tree (elia). It’s a warm, human, timelessly elegant name.

A Name That Became a Landmark

Today, Cavo Marelia is more than a hotel. It’s a brand with real personality.
Owners, staff, and guests say the name with pride.
It has become a symbol of success , not just because it sounds beautiful, but because it carries a smart strategy that ties emotion to real-world results.

Through this project, Panadvert proved a name isn’t just a word.
It’s the start of a story.
And Cavo Marelia shows that when branding blends thought, knowledge, and heart, it can birth real stars on the map of Greek hospitality.
